Antique Furniture.
There is no single area of antique collecting as diverse as antique furniture. After all, if there's one thing we all need in abundance in any domestic setting, it is, furniture. Whether to sit on, eat at, sleep on, as storage or to display things in, there will always be a demand for the quality of design and construction of antique furniture.

When looking at any piece of antique furniture, with the intent of owning it, certain basic factors should be considered. These are, manufacturer, date, wood used, type of construction, proportions and style, patina, decoration, such as handles and any carving, either as part of the overall shape or as ornamentation.
Other factors will also affect price and desirability, not the least of which, is condition. Nowadays this tends to make the most sought after pieces prohibitively expensive. However, there are plenty of beautiful examples from famous manufacturers still available at reasonable prices, worth restoring and looking after for the future.
