Antique Collector - Antique Kitchenware

Antique Kitchenware and Other Collectable Household Items.
Kitchen and household related antiques is an unusual and surprisingly large subject. The sheer number of early patented products was phenomenal, yet many of these so-called labour-saving devices were of little practical use in the kitchen. It was the short production runs of many of these items that has reduced availability to collectors and prices are beginning to reflect this.

Some of the kitchen related antiques that are becoming popular read like a torturers toolbox; biscuit cutters, eggbeaters, nutmeg graters, food choppers, apple peelers and parers, bean slicers, cast iron can openers, game hooks and hangers. jelly and cake moulds, lemon squeezers, tea caddies, spice rasps, storage pots and pans, corkscrews and ice cream scoops.
Then there are antique tools and aids such as; woodworking planes, typewriters, sewing machines, leather tools, early electric fans, toasters, telephones, and many more.

One of the most enduring images of 20th century domestic life in Britain must be a kitchen filled with blue-banded Cornish Ware. Founded in the late 18th century in the heart of a county well known for pottery, thanks to ample supplies of local coal and clay, the company was bought in 1864 by Thomas Goodwin Green, a successful builder and entrepreneur who had made a fortune in Australia.
