The "white" and much lighter metal, spelter, was widely promoted as a less expensive alternative to bronze, and with a bronze coating can often seem just as good as the real thing. Many spelter figurines were weighted to give the impression of bronze quality, however, they were often of inferior detail. They are still very collectable today. |
