The Rest of the World Art and Antiques.
Many think of the 'rest of the world' as Chinese or Japanese antiques because of the sheer quantities that have been imported from that part of the world. At one time, "Oriental" did indeed, loosely refer to all foreign antiques East of France, but is now more defined as coming from China, Japan and Korea.
The Rest of the World has built its own stage, perhaps one of the most famous being Carl Fabergé [1846-1920] the world-famous goldsmith and jeweller to the Tsars of Russia. Other notable areas of outstanding craftsmanship, include, Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent.
Chinese Dynasties: Tang Dynasty (618-907), Song Dynasty (960-1279), Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368), Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Republic of China (1912-) and Peoples ROC (1949-).
Japanese Periods: Kamakura Period (1185-1333), Muromachi (Ashikaga) Period (1333-c.1570), Momoyama Period (c.1570-1614), Edo (Tokugawa) Period (c.1615-1868), Meiji Period (1868-1912), Taisho Period (1912-1926), Showa Period (1926-1989).
